This blog aims to mark the 250th anniversary of the West Haddon Enclosure riots. It will provide a narrative of events, along with profiles of people who were living in the village at that time, identifying significant places and buildings where possible and shedding light on different facets of the life of the community in 1765.
It will serve as a curtain-raiser for the exhibition and other events taking place in West Haddon on the weekend of 1st and 2nd August 2015. We invite comments, questions and contributions (information, not cash!) from people living in the village now, as well as those across the globe with an interest in West Haddon’s history, including those whose ancestors may have witnessed, or taken part in, those events 250 years ago.
